WCS Memorial 100 (May 31st)
Chris Weinkauf served notice Memorial Day when he won the Wisconsin Challenge Series (WCS) 100 lap event by a big margin at Golden Sands Speedway. Chris posted fast time over a field of cars that included Steve Holzhausen and Jeremy Lepak, who raced closely for over 50 laps behind Weinkauf for 2nd and 3rd. Only 1 caution marred the race, when Eugene Gregorich and Jeff Weinfurter both spun early. Weinkauf started 11th and wasted no time getting to the front, taking the lead from our lady driver Rene' Scheinoha who lead the first 25 laps of the race. Holzhausen's usual steady march to the front brought Lepak with him, and the two looked to be the only others capable of matching Weinkauf's speed. The Checkered lap saw Weinkauf clearing lapped traffic, leading by about a dozen car lengths, Holzhausen and Lepak nose to tail. Bryan Reffner and new standout Skylar Holzhausen finished 4th and 5th. Scheinoha finished 7th.

I love a good "Hunt"

OOPS this pic was posted twice!! OH well It's a beauty!!!

Ever take the time to look for a 4 leaf clover? Ever find any?? Think it's a waste of time? Maybe you think they don't exist... or do they? I can't walk past a patch of clover. I fall to the ground and start searching for them. My posture has caused people to call emergency people to come to my aid because they think I have taken ill and collapsed to the ground and need medical help.Imagine my surprise when I looked up from my "hunting" only to find not only an EMT but the ambulance behind me ready to scoop me up for a terrifying ride to the ER! That happened at the race track when I was pitting for my team mate last year. My EMT friend was very reluctant to leave my side as he dearly thought I needed medical attention and that I really wasn't wasting my time looking for the elusive 4 leaf clover! Little does he know I DO have a problem.. I can't pass a clover patch!!!! I NEED to fall to the ground and begin my search. Ever since I was a little kid I could find 4 leaf clovers like most people find the 3 leaf kind. 5, 6 ,7 and even 9 leaf clovers have not escaped my eyes. My hunt last week resulted in 81 clovers with 4 or more leaves.... HA!!! my friends say "Ya right.... 81" OK to day I took my camera with me and I took a few pictures as I "Hunted". 30 was the number of 4 leaf clovers I found today.... a few 5 leaves and 1 with 6 leaves... Sigh...... I must be slipping..only 30!

Shelf Tutorial Using Wall Paper Border Part 2

Ok Here we go again.. You'll have to read part 1 so this makes sense to ya. We are making a shelf using wallpaper border. OK ready???? Lets finish the shelf so you can see what you are making!!

Have the side boards even with the drawn line..remember the line is the traced line around your wall paper border..on the plywood. 3/4 of an inch away from the sides and the top. The bottm has a piece of trim even with the plywood edge. OKPlease drill some pilot holes so you don't crack the wood..We got this far ,,we don't want to ruin it now.......

Nail the sides to the trim piece.Now flip it over and nail the back.

Don't forget to glue under the sides and the top before nailing..it helps to hold it together better.

Next get a piece of wood . I used a piece 5 3/5 inches wide and 6 inches longer than the length of my wall paper border. It is also 3/4 thick.

From the top..... set the piece of wood on the space you drew on top of the wall paper in the begining. I measured 3 inches for the over hang on the each end of the shelf.. You might want a longer shelf that is fine ..add the inches here.

Here I have my top piece ready to be nailed to the sides. I am making the 3 holes that I will drill pilot holes for so my top won't crack. I have a 3 inch over hang on each side of my top side of my shelf.. And if you want, you can add some hooks or knobs to your trim piece as I did.. I will removed them when I paint my shelf but for now I have the holes ready to put them back into place after I am done painting and finishing my shelf.

MY 3 holes are drilled and I'm ready to put the nails in.
Flip it over and put your nails in the back. I put 7 nails across the top.

Here you can see the inside where the top meets the side in the corner...Nice clean edges for not many measurments Eh?

Here I am measuring for the knobs or hooks if you want some.. I put one in the middle then measured in 2 inches in from each side for the other 2 knobs. I drilled pilot holes and used black skrews to hold my knobs. I will remove them when I paint the shelf.

WHOO HOO Here it is we are almost done!!! Now we can fit the wall paper border. You may have to trim a millimeter off the sides or top or bottom.. Don't take too much off..You just want the wall paper to lay flat on the plywood..no buckling of waveyness. DON'T GLUE IT IN YET!!!OK>>> Here the wallpaper it fits in and we are ready to paint the shelf.. I am doing my black.Paint the whole back black. Paint everything black on the front except all the middle where the wall paper will go. Plaint about a 1/2 inch edge on the plywood where the wallpaper will be glued..You are doing this in case when you trimmed the wall paper , if you took too much off , the black will make it not so noticable.And now we can sand our shelf..and stain it..sand it till the wood shows thru in places. When the black is dry, you can paint a second color like red or mustard and sand thru to the black in places and all the way thru to the wood also in places. I used minwax a dark walnut stain.. I rubbed it on with a rag and wiped it off. After it is dry..you can FINALLY glue your wall paper border in. I put white glue around the very edges where I painted the black in the plywood front.. Just so I was sure the wall paper didn't lift.. Other wise I just wet the back of the wall paper as I would if I were putting it on a real wall.

Just have to sand it and glue the wall paper in it and stain it........YEA!!! WHOO HOO Here it is all finished.. This one I didn't not put knobs on it. It has the dark walnut stain finish..Now all ya have to do is put some hanging hooks on the back and figger out where you want to hang it in your home.... I made 3 shelfs during this tutorial..so that is why some had knobs and some didn't. I hope you were able to follow me here.. I wanted to show you that you can make a shelf using ANY size of wall paper border that you want. By starting with the wallpaper itself and going from there by drawing a line around it on plywood.. You can just built it right up from almost nothing.

Shelf Tutorial Using Wall Paper Borders Part 1

OK this is going to be a long drawn out tut but I think it will be easy. I have like 31 pictures to walk you thru this. SO Ever seen a piece of wall paper border you thought would make a really cool....SOMETHING?? But what??? Here is what you can do with it.....Find an old piece of plywood..or if your lucky enough to have a new piece use that. This is the back side that you never see.. It's normally nailed to the wall!Here is the front side of the plywood I am going to use...Nasty ain't it..ok..not for long!!Take your wall paper border and select the part you want to use.. Wall paper border repetes so look for a place to cut where you have the whole picture with out over lapping the picture on the ends. I got this at Menards and it cut real nice between the houses. Cept I think it's printed at an angle?? Whatever..OK get your piece of wall paper border cut..Size does not matter. Any size border will work for this project.Now lay the wallpaper down on the BACK side of the plywood DON'T GLUE IT!!! just set it down..... We will be using new boards for the frame so.... find a nice board.. I used a piece of trim I had laying around here.. it does not matter how wide it is only that it is exactly the same length as your wall paper picture. You can now measure the trim so it is the same length as the wall paper is long, mark a line and cut the trim. Lay the trim down EVEN with the bottom edge of the plywood, leaving a space on all 3 remaining sides. Lay the wall paper above it so it is touching the trim but not under it. Draw a line around the wall paper. Ok new boards are 3/4 of an inch thick sooo measure 3/4 of an inch from the wall paper line and trim draw a line 3/4 away up the sides and across the top.. Draw a 3/4 space.

See in the pictures a line drawn 3/4 of an inch all around the wall paper and the trim . You don't have to draw a line under the trim.. The trim IS the bottom.
oK go ahead and cut out the plywood piece. You should have now. A piece of plywood 3/4 of an inch bigger on the sides and the top than your wallpaper border and the width of your trim on the bottom.

Bottom rim is even and 3/4 on the sides and top. You can sand the edges of the plywood to get rid of any splinters.
Put some white glue under the trim and press down.. Hold it and flip the plywood and trim over so the finished side is up.
Put a few nails thru the finished side into the trim..Make sure the nails are shorter than the thickness of your trim so they don't go all the way thru the trim. Make sure the bottom edge stays even and the side and top still have a 3/4 space.
Flip your plywood back over and it should look like this now.. The trim is glued and nailed. You are now ready for the sides of the shelf. Get your new wood. I used 2....3/4 x 3 1/2 x 15 inch long piece as that is what I had. You need 2 pieces. One for each side of the shelf.

OK Here I lined up the top of my new board EVEN with the top of the wall paper. The new board is laying on it's edge and on the 3/4 inch space you left on the sides and top.

Here you have to decide how much you want to hang down below your trim. I went about 3 inches...AND I want a curve not a blunt straight cut.... so ..............

Make a piece of paper the same size as your new wood..side.....

And draw a curve that you like on the end..This will be your pattern for the bottom side of your shelf. Draw it on the wood and cut it out..Sand the edges smooth.

Draw on the wood.Cut it out on your scroll saw.Sand the sides and bang the edges on the end of the belt sander.. You can also sand it by hand..

Now make another one exactly the same for the other side of the shelf!

Hand sand too if you don't have a belt sander.Now lay the sides on the plywood in the 3/4 spaces you left on the sides of the wall paper. Measure so the side board is EVEN......... with the top of the wallpaper NOT THE TOP OF THE PLYWOOD. You need a 3/4 space at the top.. Draw a straight line and cut the board. Now sand the edges at the top.. And get your glue ready.Put some glue on the ends of the trim.Put the side piece on the plywood on the 3/4 space you left on the sides of the wall paper. And even with the top of the wallpaper. I'm gonna post this so I don't loose it and finish the shelf in part 2.

American Swap With Kris from Simply Prim

Ok I am SOO far behind with everything here.. I am late with my swap with Kris.. I am so sorry. The item I made for you ,,when I took it to the P.O. it would have cost over $29.00 to ship!! SO I have to start all over.. I was thinking like $15 to ship, boy was I wrong.. So bare with me I am making some new stuff and I will get it out this wek yet. I thought I had to the 24th and it was the 15th so now I am really really late..

Ok I had Kris from Simply Prim as my swap buddy. I got some wonderful items.. My life is never slow and I am alway running..and I was really running out my front door when I had to jump over a box my postman had left on my door step. It was my goodies from the Americana swap off Char's blog. I told my pit crew they were going to wait till I opened this box..and wait they did.

I got a wonderful prim candle holder that Kris made and then she made up the prim candle to go with it.. They do smell wonderful. Next Kris made me a super cute Uncle Sam!! I just LOVE this little guy.. I love prim. I Love cute country. This little guy fits right in. Then I got a wonderful basket with America painted on it.. How did you know Kris, that I was collecting baskets to start hanging them in my dining room ceiling beams?? Course this one is special and it will go right here in my computer room so I can keep my camera and anything I use alot during the day close to me. THEN I got a wonderful little book to keep all my notes in and it came with an American pencil too that was tucked inside.

Well they are Gone

When we got home late yesterday afternoon, the 2 baby robins were out of the nest and sitting on the lawn. I just walked over and picked them up. It was like they were so used to me they didn't try to fly away. I had the hubbie take one last pic of them, this time in my hands. I took them in the house for the picture and then I cropped it so ya didn't have to look at my mug! I put them back in the nest. At 7 am I could still hear the parents chirping to them.

This afternoon, they are gone. I can't even hear the mom and dad chirping to them. All I hear is the cardinals and they have a nest in the back yard...Soon they will bring their babies to the feeder.. Something to look for soon!

Birds Are Mean

I looked in the nest 2 days ago and can only see 3 babies...today I can only find 2 babies..... Then I started to look on the ground...where I found the 2 babies that were the smaller ones and got pushed out of the nest... I feel so bad... I wonder how many times I walked passed these babies on the ground and didn't see them? I wonder if I could have fed them if I had found them earlier? If they would have taken a worm from me. I suppose this is nature...but such a mean nature...

YEA!! My goodies arrived today from Char's Porch Swap. My buddy was Kim, her blog is The Prim Schoolmarm. I got a really cool chickfeeder lamp filled to the brim with fantastic smelling rose hips and cinnamon sticks and tiny wax tarts, and it has a ring of pip berries around the canning jar too. Next I got a really cool wood light box with a prim heart cut out on the front and a wonderful cinnamon candle with a great old looking metal cap and handle, and thennnnnn I got a really wonderful stenciled Welcome Friends with a red star in the middle . ( I love stars) And I'm not done yet!!! This is the best ( you'll see why in the last picture!!!!!) WHOO HOO I got an old prim stitchery of a black cat standing on a step stool looking in an old crock!! And the crock has a star on it!! WHOO HOO!!! Take a look at how wonderful it all looks on my table in my entryway!!! It fits in so WELL don't ya think???? And that stitchery!! LOOK at the LAST Picture... That's my Binky for sure!!! Digging my my old crock where I keep my "Roots" in my kitchen... KIM! How did ya know Binky digs in the root crock all the time?? SO much so,, I have taken his picture doing it!!! THANK-YOU FOR BEING A WONDERFUL SWAP PARTNER!!! THANK-YOU CHAR FOR HAVING THE SWAP!!!!

Lordy I am just busy busy. We got both race cars done but had to pull the motor out of Burton's car. Mine has been running fine.. I won the B feature last Friday night and advanced to the A feature which I finished in one piece...sort of..least most of the car did..OK FINE!!.. Hubbie is fixing my rear quarter as I type... Hey.. It wasn't my fault really!!!!

Ok here is my new cute thing I found... up in a bush right out my front door>>>>>

I can't wait for BABIES!!!!!!

My Out Houses

Here are the 2 kinds of out houses I have been making. The first one is what I call a square one. I use fence planks from Menards..Single pieces of 6 inch wide 6 feet tall green treated. It's about 20 pieces if you want a porch. I didn't have a picture with the door open but yep..there is a poo hole... I mean a hole for your flower pot! Ya that's what I ment. I wrap them with grape vines,,they are kinda falling off now. I hung some old horse harness on the side. The lamp is a solar lamp. It can't get enough light under the porch's roof so I take it out during the day and hang it on a hook stuck in the yard next to the outhouse.. In the evening I rehang the lamp under the porch roof and it looks so cute. This one is stained with a redish water proof stain. Now these I LOVE to make I don't really measure a thing when I make these cept maybe the roof pieces so they are all the same length. I use what ever scrap wood I can find for this style. I have even made these with one side of the roof longer than the other side! The curve is decided by the amount of curve I free hand draw on the scrap wood. I do have to make sure the peak is the same front and back, as well as the curve matches from side to the same side ,front and back. The roof left to right side, can be different lenghts and curves. The porch can be on either side, or neither side, or Both sides. The outhouse can be different widths also as long as they match on the opposite side, to make a square or rectangle. They are all skrewed together so they can be moved without twisting apart. This one is not stained. It was made with rough cut lumber and it is very heavy.

Here ya can see inside and yep..there's the "flower pot " hole! Oh, and I see a corn cob and newspaper too! The orange cord is to the light I have inside so it lights up and you can see the cresent moon Everynight! I had these at a shop down the road from where I used to live. They had $185.00 on them and I was making one everyweek last summer! This year they retired so I don't have a place to sell them anymore and I kept this one. The curvey roof ones have real shingles and a "vent" pipe.

Primitive Star Flag Holder

Ok lets see if I can do this.... I am giving you a pattern to make this Primitive Star Holder. The pattern is on the right side bar. You need to down load both parts. Sorry I fought with this most of last night and gave up they are in 2 parts....Read thru so you know ahead what you need and will had to do to make these buggers.
To make it you will need:
the pattern
sissors pen or pencil
1 piece of wood at least 16 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide and 3/4 inches thick.
Scroll saw
sand paper
white paint... black if you choose also
stain of your choice
brushes
rags
flag on a stick
drill and drill bit a size smaller the same size as your flag's stick
ruler, to make sure the slot is the same size as the thickness of the wood

Ok print out pattern.. NOW make sure the slots are the same size as your wood is thick. I printed out the pattern and it was the same size as my wood is thick. The pieces fit together so if your pattern slot is bigger than your wood's thicknes... you will have to lay a piece of the wood you are going to use on top of the slot pattern piece and redraw around it before you cut out the pattern and trace it on your wood. When you cut out the slot, the thickness of the saw's cut will be enough to let the 2 pieces slip together for a nice fit.Cut out your pattern piece and lay it on the wood.. Trace around the pattern. Make sure that slot is the same width as the piece of wood you are using.Cut out the star pieces. Sand them on a belt sander or just use a piece of 100 grit paper.Bang those edges for a more worn look.Check to see if they will fit together. If not, go back and trim a bit out of the slot, and fit again. After you paint them they will be tighter so if they are a bit on the sloppy side now that's a good thing. Here I also rounded the tips of the smaller star so they don't point over the edges of the bigger star. Check to see if your star sets even on all 4 points.. If it doesn't, cut one of the slots a bit deeper..don't go too much.Check to see the size of the dowl your flag is on. Pick a drill bit one size smaller. Now if you have a drill press Whoorrraa! It will save you some swearing. I took a chip out of the middle of the point of the star so I could start the drill better. I used a pair of old wire cutters to nip a chunk out, to make the starting drill hole area, flatter so the bit wouldn't slip off to the side.. Be careful you don't chip the edged of your star..if you do save the piece and white glue it back on..let it dry and try again. Start with a smaller drill bit.. when you have the hole done, change one size bigger drill bit, use the one that is the same size as the dowel the flag is on. Check to see if the flag dowel will fit in the hole..if not go to the next size bigger.. By starting with a smaller drill bit, it's easier to start the hole..less swearing.Here I jumped ahead a bit.. I have the star painted white and sanded.. You can do what you want here.. You can pound some dents in the star to make it look older. Use the sides of bolts and edges of nuts, lay them on the wood and gently tap them till they make a dent in the wood. Use the round hammer head to make a few dings too. You can paint it black first then white... so when you sand it the black shows thru..... what I did and I am sure it's toxic...but... I goobed the white paint on, then while it was still wet (and I layed it on thick).... I took it out side and with a heat gun, I cooked the paint till it blistered. I did this so when I sanded the wood I would have round blistered, paint chips that the stain would get caught in.. Now don't be smelling the cooking paint...do this outside inthe fresh air if you are going to try this method. Sand thru to the raw wood in places too.Apply your stain with a brush..Leave it on for a min then wipe it off with a rag.AWWW here it is, It fits and it's ready for the flag... I also stained the dowel the flag was on and I even stained the flag too. It you really want to age it even some more.. Take a little black paint and dip a stiff bristle brush in just a bit of it... and flick the brush over something like a used popsicle stick..flick the paint so it spatters on the star.. There..now you have fly specks!

And there you are. I made 6 of them for the shop. The orginal is 12 inches tall. Just make sure you have the same size slot as the woods thickness so they fit together good. I don't glue mine.. they can be taken apart for storage..but then...mine sit out all year long.....I hope I explained this good enough.. Hugs Rene

Friday Night at the Races

Ok, I asked my crew if anyone of them could please take some pictures of me racing.... this is the only one I got! I haven't left my pit spot yet!! I have just flipped the switch to start the car in this picture.. I am looking at my switch panel and am flipping the "on" then I push the button to start the car then I flip the lights for my dash. Then I check my oil gage which is right in front of me. SO this is me going out for the A Feature.
We had 25 in the Super Late Model class on the first night of the year. I qualified 12th and made the A feature by time. ( a good thing) I ran in the second heat ( of 3 heats) and finished 4th. Had to avoid a few crashes and even got a "Atta Girl" from one of my crew over my radios. Made me laugh in the car. I started 14th in the A feature. A 40 lap feature. Had to avoid a few more crashes. I finished 11th and in one piece! ( another good thing) I didn't really get IN any of them buuuuuttt....I poked the guy ahead of me taking the green flag.... got poked in the rear by a guy who didn't let up as fast as I did when the yellow flag came out. Got side swiped on the left side as I ran side by side with another driver,,and.... got side swiped on the right side as another driver tried to go up the middle, 3 wide with me on the bottom. SO both my numbers are scraped, the nose has a dent and the rear bumper a paint chip. Ok so not to bad for the first night of the year.... didn't scratch the roof right?? WELLLL my pit guy Scott was going to reach into the car to put the steering wheel back on so we could load the car..Well he didn't bend over far enough and slammed the top of his bald head right into the roof edge of my car just below my name! Put a tiny crack in the paint!! SO I hit everything but the pace car! Someone asked me before, how long have I been racing? This is the start of my 29th year.

Ok I know,,scary picture.... BUT I needed to have something in the picture to show you how big my giant whale tail shelf? monster? is! SOOOO when my hubbie came in from working on the race car and god only know's what else he was in too ( and it looks like it might have been a bit dirty) He flopped down in the closest chair and I said "Hold these." and set the monster next to him. And with my cat looking on, a hole in his socks, a day plus old beard oil, grease , grime, in my good chair.. I took his picture... so don't be afraid... he cleans up pretty good.. but the main thing,,is...what do you think of the monster whale tail...shelf?? It stands 45 inches tall and is 12 inches wide. The other one that I got painted is 24 inches tall, and the raw wood one is about 11 inches tall. I took the 2 finished ones to our booth in Wis Dells.

I still have to tell ya about my race Friday night.. I got 1 picture ,, tonight when we take the car out of the hauler I'll take a few more to show you the contact I had.... well at least I didn't hit the pace car!

Tomorrow is the First Race

Well here she is.. We had practice last Sat... Cold, wet... didn't pay to put new rubber on her.. SO we didn't learn much. Sunday..it rained..really didn't learn anything then... Wed the track set up another test day... and lordy... when we race... the race only lasts like 20 min to maybe 30 min..unless it's over a 50 lapper..then they can go longer...but mostly about 20 min. WELL... I was in the car from 4:30 to 6:00! The whole time....AWWWW! Well at least it was nice and warm in the car... very windy on Wed. I would take her out for some laps and she just didn't have any traction..back in the pits.. my crew would fiddle with shocks, more testing..more fiddling springs,,test,,, pits,,, more fiddling fiddle, fiddle.....test, test, test...... ok What ever I said went against what they thought...till we narrowed it down to....a bad shock? no way..they are all brand new!! well it WAS the right front shock. Wouldn't hold the car..SOOOO test one last time . And WITH the new tires....and lordy gees wize!!! I got a time faster than I had all year last year! and on such a cold day too. We changed the motor this year from a Chevy to a Ford..... meaning the rules let us set the motor back if we run a Ford... easier to make the weight rule. SO we had better expectations out of the box... Didn't think the shock would go like that.. They can...but not normally. We will see what happens tomorrow night..as long as I bring her home in one piece and not in a box. We have a new car at the track. I don't know if they will use it or not. It's a ride along car. Room for 2 in this baby. If they have it going this year...fans will be able to buy a ride and my team mate, Burton will be driving them around the track at breath taking speeds! LOL! The money will go to a breast cancer fund. If he doesn't show up guess who will be giving rides? That's my 5 car in the pit spot next to the pink 07 car. This pink car is really an old Nascar car, so it's really heavy duty compaired to our cars. Has the flaps on it too. Both cars have Ford Fusion bodies. That's hubbie Cliff pointing at something and Pit guy Jeremey in the red and black jacket looking on.

Wanna take a peek??? Here is where I was sitting for an hour and a half yesterday.... and I assume again tonight as the car will be sitting on 4 scales. I will have to sit in her as the crew weighs the car and makes adjustments to ride heights and the such. Car and driver must weigh a certain weight to be legal.

Ok I have made up a few more bottles to take to the Craft Mall. Yep, I went dumpster diving in my sponser's trash! I boiled hot soapy water and gave these babies a real good scrubbing, I got the lables that were on the bottles all cleaned off. AND I made up another special label just for me!

Here is a closer look at the bottle labels. I love the thorns, makes them look really nasty! This time I didn't have a problem with drying the muslin tops......... Last time on the jars. I tried to dry them in my micro wave oven. Now in my OLD micro wave oven, I dried stuff all the time...no problem.... Now I have a new one. And it is much hotter..takes less time..whatever....... good excuse anyway... I tried..... Ok FINE..FINE!.. I'll tell... I put the wet coffee stained muslin tops in the micro wave and pushed 1 min...least I thought it was one min....OK OK I pushed 10 min and walked away, and got side tracked with something else. Well when I smelled the smoke, I remembered the tops in the micro wave... after I put out the fire ..I had nothing left but 12 little black ash balls where I once had 12 balled up wet coffee stained muslin tops. And STINK! So this time I used the real oven at 200 * because that is the lowest setting... they didn't burn but then I didn't walk away this time either.

Here I have a special way of reusing beer and booze bottles.. My sponsor for my race car runs a pub and eatery. SOOO I have dumpster rights!!! I dive in and grab all the bottles I wish. I take them home and scrub the heck out of them, inside and out.

Then the fun begins. I dug thru my Halloweens labels from set 3 and 1 from set 4 right here at the bottom of this page....... and started to glue them on the bottles.. What a HOOT!!!Look at the silly's

I grungied up some cheese cloth and tied it on the tops with a piece of jute cord.

My bottles are ready to be set on my pantry shelves!! Awww but these are going to the shop and some lucky person will be able to buy them and take them home for their own primitive pantry.

Well here are a stack of beans for sure! I am getting items ready for a craft mall that my new best friend Dani and I are moving into this Wed.. We can't wait, It will be the first time we meet in person ,but I felt like I have known Dani for ever... I just love her to pieces.. She has helped me with ideas and she is there for support, She understands me and we email or talk every day..I have made these labels just for me..WHOO HOO! I have been using my own labels on jars and crates for over a year now..my house is almost full! My hubbie says it's starting to look like an old mercantile in here!! I have been selling my labels here on my blog and several other places on line.. I have them in several shops in my home town and towns near by too.. I have them bagged up and they look really nice hanging on a hook all lined up and ready to be bought..When the hubbie saw this stack ready to go to the mall he really thought he stepped back in time and maybe he should be on the look out for the pickle barrel too...soon honey, soon I'll have that in the house too!

Look What Came for A Snack Today

Take a look at what came for a snack at my bird feeder today. We have alot of these in our town just they are mostly on the other side of the river.... But over the last 4 years they have found a way to this side...maybe they are crossing the river in the winter..... anyway I just love to see these black squirrels in my yard... The gray ones love to chase them. Poor little guy runs like a bat-outta-hell when he sees the gray squirrel close by. I got him this close with sunflower seeds.. I wonder if he will like peanuts? He reminds me of my black Chinchilla.. I just want to reach out and grab him!!! He looks so soft.. and look at that tail!.. I suppose he wouldn't like it very much....so I'll just peek at him thru my living room window.... and give my chinchilla an extra squeeze tonight.

Fun at the Salvage Yard

I love to go to the salvage yard. I take home more than what we take there. We are good friends with the owner and he asked me for a list of the things I wanted him to save for me...OH BOY!!

A MAN after my heart!! I stopped writing after 2 pages. And the things he has saved for me...half were not on the list!!!

Some funnels , a lead melting spoon, a chamber pot,, like the 3 I have now arn't enough...well ya never know!!!!! 13 shoe thingees from when they really fixed shoe instead of buying new ones. 3 flat irons to go with my old wood ironing boards I have thru out the house. An old lantern, and an old toaster...way too cool! And anyone know what the cage looking things are???? I have been told "Chick Creeps" least that is what I call them.. SOOO when ya have baby chicks and you want to feed just the chicks..you would put the chick feed on the ground then put this cage "Creep" over the feed. Then the baby chicks can go thru the bars ( creep in) and eat the food because the adult chickens can't get it....they can't fit thru the bars..... I have baby creeps for my chinchillas.. so the baby can have a place to hide and rest while the parents romp at night.

But then these might be for something else.... but they sure would work good for baby feeding chicks...if I had any!

Can't wait to go back and see what he has saved for me next time!

I made up a patch for my friend on my bowling team.. Last week she picked up the 7...9...10 split... She joked about it and pretended to be upset because there wasn't a "Major" award for picking up that split.... Well my dear friend...there IS a patch for that split! Here it is.. I made it up special for you. I am going to put it in an envelope just like all the other patch's are when we get them. I'll have the Secretary and President of our league give it out to her tonight.. She doesn't have a clue! I can't wait! Good job Cheri!

What a MESS!

What a MESS! I am trying to take torn bits of newspaper and white glue and paste them on to plastic Easter eggs..... well I bought 36 eggs... I got 6 done! Thank god the phone didn't ring in the middle of this project. I'm gonna paint them black when they are dry. Dry brush a layer of white glue on them and when that is dry, paint them in some drab colors. The layer of white glue will make them crackle a bit.. cheaper than the real crackle stuff. If they turn out and don't look too bad.. I'll let ya see them when I got them finished. Off to get ready for bowling now..Not many nights of league left....Rene

My UGLY Dolls!

Well I got those ugly dolls done..all 6 of them.. I took them to the primitive shop in town..They fit right in!! I have a few more skinny head dolls to finish now.. The hubbie calls them "Bread Stick Dolls" because of their long skinny heads. I stitched a whisp of raw sheeps wool on top of their heads.. I hope I can find my black wool other wise they will have gray hair!! I also got my flat carrots done too.. I bundled them up 3 to a pack,, tied a strip of grungy cheese cloth around them. Stained a strip of wide twill,,,stamped "OLD CARROTS" on the twill. Pinned the twill on with a rusty safty pin and jingle bell. AND I was a prim -makin'-demon because I also got my Easter pillows done too. I had them on ebay and they didn't sell so I scraped off as much of the mica flakes off (as the shop in town didn't want mica on them.) I regrungied them real dark, because the shop LOVES their stuff really almost extreame prim...and off to the shop they went. The bunnies you can hardly see but they have real wool for their "cotton" tails...If I lived where they grow cotton I sure would have loved to sew real raw cotton on them. I have one small clump that I picked up that blew thru a fence at a way side while we were driving to Florida.. I never saw raw cotton and I was so excited to have a piece. No clue where I stashed it...Hugs Rene

My Monday bowling!!!!

Hi All, Just a short note. I cleaned house all day for company that stayed 15 min!!! Oh well my house is clean ,,and now,,I can't find a thing!..
I have to tell you what I bowled last night. I bowl with 4 other ladies..on a MENS league!
I started off just nasty.. a 134.. Oh could it get worse?? I love to bowl My average WAS 165...it's been going down and down to a 159... Oh great horrors... :( I have the lowest average on my team. We just got back from state and I got a 208. I thought I was on my way back up..but no.. I threw a 134... So I tried real hard in the second game.. and I still got open frames... I was getting so disappointed..my team ladies have averages in the 180's and 170's... They must hate me by now....ooooo... I wanted to cry..then I got mad..MAD!! I tell ya!! I started to whip that ball with such a hook ya'd think a MAN was throwing it!! I got 3 strikes in a row Whoo HOO! But I opened in the tenth frame... BUT I got my average and then some I threw a 189... BUT we lost that game and I was still mad.. SO we started the third game.. I'm in a bowling frenzy.. I'm whipping that ball..it's hooking like mad.. I got strike after strike I threw 7 strikes in a row!! This isn't me??? Who's bowling in my body?? Everybody's cheering..men are stepping aside to let me bowl first.. Men are waiting till "I" bowl... they are slapping my hand..... OHHhhh this is gonna hurt when I don't get a strike.... and I got 8 pins and a spare in the 8th frame... OOhh they all moan....... Like I don't feel bad that I didn't strike...but now I let them all down..... sigh... I whipped that ball in the 9th frame and got a stike...YEA!!!! I finished with a 8 spare 8 in the tenth frame for a 256 game.. WHOO HOO!! my highest game ever.. AND the third highest game for ladies on the board on the bowling alley's wall of fame. I'm have the highest scratch game for ladies on the league and highest game with handicap for ladies.. I can only get a prize for one or the other... HAD I gotten 3 more pins, I would have had 100 pins over my average.... but I'll get a patch for 75 pins over..something I never never thought I could do... AND we won 2 games to boot!!
So that was my bit of fun to start my week off.
I printed off more labels so I am well stocked. I have some dolls to finish for a shop here in town. and I have a clean house!

WHOO HOO I'm Back from The State Bowling Tournament

WHOO HOO!! I FINALLY GOT MY 200 GAME AT A STATE TOURNAMENT!!!!

I bowled my average (154 we use last years average) for the team event on Friday night... nothing exciting. We bowled doubles and singles Sat afternoon. Doubles again I got my average( 177, 164, and 154)..and I was getting more strikes than I normally get..but I'd get a split or miss an easy spare and have to start over with strikes again. THEN singles started only 3 games left of the 2009 tournament 3 more tries to get the glory of a 200 game and the PIN....... I thew a 151 game UGH!!!! 2 games left....... I started off the second game...4 strikes in a row ( YIPPIEE) then!!! a SPLIT ( OH NO!!!) I came back with a strike, then 3 ..9 sparess then in the tenth frame ( I was shaking soooo bad) I threw and got 6 pins!! OMG! I had to make this spare and get at least 2 more... shake...shake.. I threw the ball and it was perfect!! I MADE the spare!!! WHOO HOO..now all I had to do was keep it in the middle.. I can't even walk... my knees are rubber..... I threw the ball with such accuracy..( lordy was that ME that threw the last ball??) AND AND AND I GOT A STRIKE!!! WHOOO HOOOO!!!! I got a 208!!! OH YEA!!

I they gave me my pin, announced my name over the PA with all the other ladies who were lucky enough to also get a 200 game... Over 200 lady bowlers were bowling at the same time as we were. SIGH.....................Then I had to throw my last game I didn't care.. I got my pin... I threw a 157....

We drove home Sat night. The rest of my team stayed over till today..and as you can see in the back of my ring picture..it's snowing. 1 car full of my team mates made it back but the last car of ladies, about 3 hours behindthe car that left this morning,, stopped for an accident and then they got side swiped. They are OK but shook up.. I don't know how they are getting back.. I offered to go and haul their car back with our hauler, but one of their hubbies had already left to go and get them. I think we have over 5 inches of snow already.

Love the snow but I wish my friends had made it back safe. We knew the snow was comming and we were the only ones with the diesel truck! The littlest car was the last to leave...go figger. I had to get back home to take care of my pets..and they stayed behind to shop and swim in the motels pool.

I have been working on a new set.. this one will be spices and the such.. I thought I had a grip on them..then Gina came into my life and changed my whole out look on so many things. I stopped what I was doing and took a look at that she told me....then I sauntered to my own little cupboard and took a look inside...MMmmm? Could this be true??? Mondern day fixens...on vintage labels??? SO I took my trusty pencil and started a list....Right now I have over 100 for the newest set the canister ones we talked about. Old and new make up this set. Herbs and spices we never heard of too.... ones we can get at the store right now.. I included items like marshmallows, chocolate chips, nuts, some sauces so the modern day pantry can be transposed to the past. Imagine opening a door to the past pantry and before you lay thick smooth wooden shelves, filled with canning jars of several colors and sizes, with grungy muslin tied to the tops...old tattered and worn.. stained labels depicting the contents of what's inside the jars stuck to the front of each jar....some with a year that is was "put up". Wooden boxes with paper labels stating that they contained "Hard Candy","Lemon Drops", "Peppermint Sticks", or "Common Twists"....sigh......

The 2 normal ones you see here and on ebay, 2 Halloween sets (3 and 4) Set 3 Halloween is real herbs and their presumed cures,, I matched them with real street names, and I found a bunch of spooky cities so I matched them with the herbs and street names..the years.. I just grab them out of thin air and plopped them on my paper they are just what ever I felt like. The labels have real nice frames. There are 31 to the set and I have a bunch of bonus ones too. Set 4 Halloween is my silly set.. I imagined a witch standing in her kitchen looking thru her cupboard looking for ingredients for her spells. So the labels are just words and a frame..maybe a year on some but not all. There are 170 labels in this set. Set 5 is the Christmas set. Again I had fun with this set as it is words and sayings pertaining to Christmas and winter. There is a bit over 100 framed labels in this set and a few without frames....they are the bonus labels. Some have illustrations and some have a year on them.

YEA!! Thank-you Gina!! I got my Pay-Pal buttons up ... I hope the buggers work! I do know that the shipping won't combine and it's charging for each set,,sooo I have to figger out what to do there cept maybe ya could contact me and I could make up an invoice to combine the shipping if anyone wanted both sets.. Right now the only way to see All the labels is to go to ebay , my id is copie5..take a look and either buy them there or come back here...I haven't figgered out how I will know if they sell here....? Guess I'll have to check Pay-Pal thru out the day.... Any one knows how this works?? Fine time to ask EH?? Oh well.. I just jumped right in.....It was Gina's Idea Ya!! LOL I think it was a fine idea..so here I am. Ok Off to bed now.. I'll get some more pic of the labels up here sometime this weekend I hope...I know Sat. we are taking the race car motor to the shop to be "Gone Thru" before we get it back "In a Basket" and can start to rebuild it. I should say that I did use a white glue to paste the label on to the stained hang tag. I "let" ( ya right) the glue seep under the edge so then all I had to do was sprinkle the mica flakes on the glue showing around the edge..Very easy to do...see how when an accident happens ( putting too much glue on the label and having it sneak under and show on the top) a good technique happens!

OK Here We Go.... I made up the snowmen heads using warm n natural and just tossed them on a bowl.. I though I have these nice labels..what if...? At crafts show that I do, I mostly use wood so hey I'll make a wood box. I used one of my labels from my Christmas set on the side...I took a label and stuck it on a stained hang tag, and added the mica flakes around the edge to try to cover it. Well it's Feb and I still have this setting out!

NOW the Halloween.. One of my sponsor's on the race car is a bar/restaurant so they have a dumpster full of empty glass bottles! And you can get those big bottles too. ( I love the blue glass Sky Vodka bottles ...the BOTTLES not the stuff inside!! whuuee!LOL) So I put my leather gloves on and went in for a dip. I boiled out the bottles and cleaned off any paper labels that were left on them. In the top I stuck a piece of wood stick, wrapped it with spanish moss or on some I used the really cool sheet moss ( remember that when you go to buy the stuff! Lordy try to explain to a sales lady " You know, that grassy green stuff that grows on trees!" Ok then wrap the bottle neck with grungy stained cheese cloth.... I sold these by the DOZEN! So easy to make and cheap too. The only cost being the labels ,and cheese cloth, because empty beer bottles, sticks, and moss ( if you can find it) is free. The skull heads with the bottles is a pattern that I made up and sold on ebay also. I have a matching bones pattern I have to write up yet..oh soo little time soo much to do.... Well here I am again, This picture is from set 1 of my vintage labels. All ya need is a glue stick and something to stitck the label on! Glass, wood, metal..it sticks to all. Can't really peel it off , that isn't a good thing ,but then it won't just fall off either. With my Christmas labels. I stuck them on stained hang tags and put a fine line of mica flakes around the label edge to cover it. I'll take a pic of what I did with the Christmas label.. I'll get ideas roasting!

Well here I am... no clue what I am doing yet.. I hope when I get a whole page full of stories I will have a direction.
We got about 6 inches of snow today. It was just a short storm. I would have liked more snow. Spring is comming and with it summer and I will have to work..more on that later when I know what will be expected of me. I guess enough for now,,till I figger out what it is that I want to do here...?
